The Governance Lens

Elastic in time. Rigid in outcome. The Lens turns "We should do X" into a contract of clarity.

The Single Question

The Lens exists to answer one question before any work enters a backlog:

"Do we understand this well enough to make a real commitment?"

If the answer is "no", the OS does not allow the work to progress. Time can be elastic. Clarity cannot.

What the Lens Produces

• Scope of Work: Explicit boundaries (In vs. Out).
• Ownership: Named individuals, not "the team".
• Maturity Score: Evidence-based confidence (GapScore).
• Accelerator Path: The selected execution model (POC, Pilot, MVP).

If you try to "go fast" by skipping the Lens, you pay for it later in incident calls, rewrites, and frustrated teams. The Lens is how we go fast on purpose.
