2. The Governance Lens

Good vs. Bad Lens Outcomes

How to know when you are actually ready to build.

To keep this real, we define exactly what "good" and "bad" look like. The Lens is only finished when we are firmly in the first column.

Good Lens Outcome

  • • We have a short, clear Scope Card or Charter.
  • • Owners and decision-makers are explicit.
  • • Boundaries and dependencies are accepted and owned.
  • • The reuse vs build path is clear.
  • • The Accelerator path is realistic.
  • • Risks are known early.
  • • The team feels confident, not surprised.

Bad Lens Outcome

  • • Work enters delivery with fuzzy scope.
  • • Ownership is vaguely assigned to "the team".
  • • Dependencies magically pop up mid-sprint.
  • • Stakeholders use different words for the same things.
  • • Solutions were chosen before the problem was understood.
  • • Scope creep begins on day one.
The Final Check
The Lens is done only when we clearly see we’re in the first column, not the second.
